Sections and Tools

The Terrain tab includes just one main set of tools:

Icon Action Description
ST-Terrain-Generate.png Generate Generates a random landscape based on several configurable parameters.
Map Size Determines the overall map size of terrain to generate.
Seed The random number "seed" associated with the terrain map.
Caves If selected, caves will be generated in the terrain map.
Biome Size Sets the size of biomes within the overall terrain map size.
Biomes Determines which type(s) of biomes will be generated, for example water, hills, mountains, etc.
ST-Terrain-Add.png Add Fills terrain with the selected Material.
Size The size of the brush.
Strength The speed at which the tool adds terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Snap to Grid When on, the brush is forced to step between 4×4×4 voxel squares.
Ignore Water When on, the brush will ignore regions of water.
Material The terrain Material to fill the selected area with.
ST-Terrain-Subtract.png Subtract Removes all terrain within the selected area.
Size The size of the brush.
Strength The speed at which the tool removes terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Snap to Grid When on, the brush is forced to step between 4×4×4 voxel squares.
Ignore Water When on, the brush will ignore regions of water.
ST-Terrain-Paint.png Paint Changes the terrain Material in the selected area.
Size The size of the brush.
Strength The speed at which the tool paints terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Plane Lock When on, restricts the brush to a plane; dragging the tool in this mode will only move the tool along the plane.
Snap to Grid When on, the brush is forced to step between 4×4×4 voxel squares.
Ignore Water When on, the brush will ignore regions of water.
Material The terrain Material to paint the selected area with.
ST-Terrain-Grow.png Grow Slowly fills in the selected area with terrain.
Size The size of the brush.
Strength The speed at which the tool fills terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Plane Lock When on, restricts the brush to a plane; dragging the tool in this mode will only grow terrain on the plane. When off, terrain will grow towards the camera.
Snap to Grid When on, the brush is forced to step between 4×4×4 voxel squares.
Ignore Water When on, the brush will ignore regions of water.
Material The terrain Material to fill the selected area with.
ST-Terrain-Erode.png Erode Slowly removes terrain from the selected area.
Size The size of the brush.
Strength The speed at which the tool erodes terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Plane Lock When on, restricts the brush to a plane; dragging the tool in this mode will only erode terrain on the plane. When off, terrain will erode away from the camera.
Snap to Grid When on, the brush is forced to step between 4×4×4 voxel squares.
Ignore Water When on, the brush will ignore regions of water.
ST-Terrain-Smooth.png Smooth Averages the occupancy in the selected area, making the terrain smoother and less sharp.
Size The size of the brush.
Strength The speed at which the tool smoothes terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Plane Lock When on, restricts the brush to a plane; dragging the tool in this mode will only smooth terrain on the plane.
Snap to Grid When on, the brush is forced to step between 4×4×4 voxel squares.
ST-Terrain-Regions.png Regions Allows transformation of existing terrain.
Select Creates a 3D region in the workspace that the other Regions tools will use. This region can be changed by dragging the handles on the side.
Move Allows movement of the selected region by dragging the handles on the side.
Resize Allows resizing of the selected region by dragging the handles on the side.
Rotate Allows rotation of the selected region by dragging the handles on the rotation axes.
Copy Copies the selected region.
Paste Pastes the most recently copied region and automatically selects the Move tool so that you can move it.
Delete Deletes the terrain in the currently selected region.
Fill Fills the currently selected region with a Material.
Merge Empty If moving a region of terrain, determines if its "air" voxels will merge with the the terrain of the destination area.
