The Terrain tab contains tools to create and shape static terrain in your game.

Terrain[edit]

Action Description
Add Fills terrain with the selected Material.
Size The size of the brush.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Snap to Grid When on the brush is forced to step between 4x4x4 voxel squares.
Material The Material to fill the selected area with.
Auto When on the fill material will be automatically chosen based on the surrounding terrain.
Subtract Removes all terrain within the selected area.
Size The size of the brush.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Snap to Grid When on the brush is forced to step between 4x4x4 voxel squares.
Paint Changes the terrain material in the selected area.
Size The size of the brush.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Plane Lock When on restricts the brush to a plane. Dragging the tool in this mode will only move the tool along the plane.
Snap to Grid When on the brush is forced to step between 4x4x4 voxel squares.
Material The terrain Material to fill the selected area with.
Grow Slowly fills in the selected area with terrain.
Size The size of the brush.
Strength The speed the tool fills terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Plane Lock When on restricts the brush to a plane. Dragging the tool in this mode will only grow terrain on the plane. When off terrain will grow towards the camera.
Snap to Grid When on the brush is forced to step between 4x4x4 voxel squares.
Material The terrain Material to fill the selected area with.
Erode Slowly removes terrain from the selected area.
Size The size of the brush.
Strength The speed the tool removes terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Plane Lock When on restricts the brush to a plane. Dragging the tool in this mode will only erode terrain on the plane. When off terrain will erode away from the camera.
Snap to Grid When on the brush is forced to step between 4x4x4 voxel squares.
Smooth Averages the occupancy in the selected area, making the terrain smoother and less sharp.
Size The size of the brush.
Smooth The speed the tool smooths terrain.
Shape The shape of the brush. Can be either spherical or cubic.
Plane Lock When on restricts the brush to a plane. Dragging the tool in this mode will only erode terrain on the plane. When off terrain will erode away from the camera.
Snap to Grid When on the brush is forced to step between 4x4x4 voxel squares.
Regions Allows transformation of existing terrain.
Select Creates a 3D region in the workspace that the other Region tools will use. This region can be changed by dragging the handles on the side.
Move Allows movement of the selected region by dragging on the handles on the side.
Resize Allows resizing of the selected region by dragging on the handles on the side.
Rotate' Allows rotation of the selected region by dragging on the handles on the rotation axes.
Copy Copies the selected Region
Paste Pastes the most recently copied region and automatically selects the move tool so you can move the copied region.
Delete Deletes the terrain in the current selection

Legacy Terrain[edit]

Some older games in ROBLOX used a different system of terrain which had a different set of tools.

Action Description
Generator Generates a random landscape based on several configurable parameters.
Builder Plops a single cell of terrain at the clicked location.
Remover Removes a single cell of terrain at the clicked location.
Elevation Adjuster Raises and lower a cone of terrain at the clicked and dragged location based on the configurable parameters.
Brush Adds or removes a rectangular chunk of terrain when clicked or dragged based on configurable parameters.
Crater Creates a crater at clicked location based on configurable parameters.
Road Creates a strip of terrain between two clicked points.
Material Brush Changes the material of the terrain in the clicked or dragged area.

Flood Fill
Convert To Smooth Converts the terrain in the currently open place to Smooth terrain
